once upon a time, i longed for the unremarkable.
i wished, so hard, for the time when every little thing wouldn’t take so much effort.
i looked forward to, though i wasn’t sure it would ever actually come, regularity.
plain and simple things. coming and going. being noticed but, also, passing by. unremarkably.
and, as i sit here, sipping a lukewarm coffee, while my children pass their sunday morning in the basement playing legos and bickering unremarkably like siblings often do … i am so grateful.
for the toothfairy money that was discovered and added to a collection of dollars that has piled up for lost teeth and small chores.
for the lost tooth, itself, that came out, unremarkably, and was handed over to simply be placed in the little plastic chest that holds teeth while they wait for cash exchange.
for the makebelieve stories that i hear happening during play time.
for the protests against going to bed at night.
all of these unremarkable moments that have finally come. without work or a service plan or a team implementing strategies.
just moments, where there were milestones, filling our days.
… may we all live, unremarkably ever after …
