OneWeek of Oats

If you are looking to make a positive change when it comes to healthy eating habits, overnight oats are a great way to kickstart your day. For the rookie meal plan/prepper they are also a really easy introduction to the lifestyle of meal planning.

I have a couple of steady “go to” flavour combinations that I prefer. This is a really fun breakfast to play around with though. You can almost never go wrong when you’re adding to a hearty oat base!

AppleSpice
1/2 apple, cut into bite sized bits
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cane sugar
Roll apple bits in cinnamon and sugar. Pour on top of prepared oats.
Enjoy.

BananaNut
1/2 banana sliced up
2 tbsp. ground roasted nuts
Pour on top of prepared oats.
Enjoy.

Reesey
2 tbsp. ground peanuts
2 tbsp. chocolate chips
(I also like to add a small spoonful of peanut butter, an extra splash of milk, and chocolate drizzle to make this really rich and extra delish.)
Pour on top of prepared oats.
Enjoy.

BananaSplit
1/2 sliced banana
2 tbsp. crushed walnuts
chopped cherries
whipped cream
chocolate drizzle
(I like to make my kids a WeedFree version of this particular flavour combo … dessert for breakfast can be a really fun way to start the day!)

PumpkinSpice
2 tbsp. roasted pumpkin seeds
2 tbsp. crushed walnuts
2 tbsp. dried cranberries
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cane sugar
Roll your seeds, nuts and berries in the cinnamon/sugar mixture.
Pour on prepared oats.
Enjoy.

ChocoBerry
1/4 cup sliced strawberries
2 tbsp. chocolate chips
Pour on prepared oats.
Enjoy.

RockyRoad
2 tbsp. chocolate chips
2 tbsp. crushed nuts
small handful of mini marshmallows
chocolate drizzle
Pour on top of prepared oats.
Enjoy.

These are, of course, just ideas. You can play with any flavour combinations you prefer. Maple/walnut. Many berries. Try different combinations of chipits and seeds and nuts to make your own favourites!

Experiment a little bit! Breakfast should be fun!
